Belgium police is right. This is about life preservation not "standing up for justice." You're way more likely to remain safe by leaving the situation than hoping that a gun will turn it around in your favor. If u have a gun, run away WITH it if your able to before engagement.

No. The Belgian policy is severely lacking in empathy. You're way more likely to remain safe, *and* your wealth to remain intact, if the robbers have reason to believe you're not an easy target.

They arrived with bullet proof vests. They already had a reason to believe. Run with your gun and call cops. Outcome more likely to result in non injury.

Interestingly you could design key mngmnt around run-away security, where you keep your key share on your person, vs. stand-your-ground key mangmnt where you lock your share in a safe. Different physical security strategies may lead to very different key mngmnt strategies.
