Regarding custodial wallets: what matters is that there are non-custodial options too. Which you use is your choice. You are free to use bitcoin irresponsibly. Plus, lightning wallets have small balances. Compare that to the bitcoin left with custodians like binance and coinbase.
People who use crypto irresponsibly tho shouldn't present themselves as having informed opinions about it. Nor should central authorities who lull users away from using the most valuable features of Bitcoin. Has been & likely will be a pernicious influence on Bitcoin culture.
