No hodlonaut, you are distorting "facts." That graph is of _publicly reachable nodes_. Not all full nodes are publicly reachable.

And this subset shows a trend change to the upside, which could be an early effect of Lightning, thereby indicating that holdlonaut and my own stance, that dominant decision factor to run a node isn't the size of the block chain but an incentive problem.

It indicates no such thing anymore than say...purchases of apples in one city increasing being claimed to suggest apple purchases worldwide are increasing. That is fallacy, not logic.

It depends if the subset is representative for the whole network.

Hard to tell without having access to the raw data.

No, it's _impossible_ to tell with that data alone.

You're trying to draw conclusions from data that is literally incapable of informing the whole picture.

It's far better than the data you have presented here, unless I missed it.

Unless you're saying Luke is intentionally misrepresenting things, he has put forward data. Just not the means with which it was gathered.

I was talking about your tweets not Luke's, but now that you mention it do you have a link to Luke's data?

He has seen a drop from ~100k nodes to around ~55k over the last year. Lemme search for a link, or see if @LukeDashjr can affirm this himself here.

Here's his current count feed, I don't think it directly displays historical trends, but I was actively watching this during last year and saw the count at ~100k: https://luke.dashjr.org/programs/bitcoin/files/charts/software.html …

Thanks! Would love to get independent confirmation(s), since this trend is oddly opposite that of the reachable nodes.

My main concern isn't even about the data, I am not even convinced if the decreasing node count is just correlated with the growing blockchain size or if it's caused by the growing blockchain. There might be other dominant factors preventing users from running nodes.
