If you’re putting a lot of $$$ on your Lightning routing node, please use a couple of very reliable hard drives with ZFS pool mirroring (RAID 1)! The mnemonic seed is NOT enough to recover funds from channels if something goes horribly wrong, you’ll need the latest chan state.

We should all be selling bitcoin. This is just a huge LN problem I wasn't even aware of. Call it me being shocked

-
It's not that huge of a problem, most people won't be running a routing node that is trying to maximize uptime. For most people, static channel backups entirely solve the problem.
-
What is the ETA on static channel backups? Looking at the github merely says “future versions will support static channel backups”
-
Next release of LND. What is the ETA on the next release of LND?
0.4 was released March 15, 2018
0.5 was released Sept 14, 2018
So if this six month cadence continues, 0.6 should be out next month -
What you should do is help test the static channel backups on testnet by compiling the master branch.
