Investors who leave their cryptocurrency in the custody of an exchange are like people who invest in Starbucks even though they don't drink their coffee. They might make good technical money, but their actual understanding of use cases and value propositions is questionable.

If your argument was valid for the whole crypto Szene then crypto would be a niche. I doubt that you'd prefer that. A technology of that size should be usable by my grandmother ;) then it has reached and changed the world. Not if a few tech nerds understood it and play with it.
If your grandmother is using a centralized exchange, she's not using the technology, and if you tell her she is you are lying to her.
