Investors who leave their cryptocurrency in the custody of an exchange are like people who invest in Starbucks even though they don't drink their coffee. They might make good technical money, but their actual understanding of use cases and value propositions is questionable.

Most are just afraid and don't know what to trust
I would think they could at least tell that some stranger with a web site is not the most promising target for their trust.

People are conditioned to feel safe with brand perception and that they don't have to be responsible for keys but also comes from lack of understanding.
