It's a pretty rough estimate but yes – combine this chart from Coinmetrics (5m meaningful distinct on-chain owners) with 35m-140m exchange users, call it 50m Bitcoin owners. yes very aggressive estimate there so the true ratio might be 5:1.pic.twitter.com/35hN1TUZwQ
It may be a lot of people and money, but nevertheless a very mixed blessing. Might be better off without them.

When the super-majority of Bitcoin users are 'custodial is easier' users, the real danger begins. Gaining consensus to fork in features that make Bitcoin easier to use, but less secure/private, will be trivially easy. How do we prepare? Set a "never hardfork" precedent?
