Hmm, I've done both. Believe me there is some bullshit code out there. And some fine bullshitters among computer science graduates. I have much more time for macroeconomists than for the sort of CS graduates who populate the crypto world.

There's a wide range of "CS graduates" ranging from distributed systems or applied cryptography research to JS-driven kids churning out dApps. Easy to group all of them as one but far from the same. Hard to bullshit in the former, tho a lot of idealistic bullshit in the latter.

One touchstone for real computer science is whether discrete mathematics is part of the core curriculum. If it's not, it's not computer science, it's just some BS programming courses calling themselves computer science, rather like macroeconomics pretends to be science.
