I was thinking "mesh networks are the future" this whole time. And now the gosh darned RADIO is a sufficient
#Bitcoin relay.

-
Will be possible to do both, a mesh of ionospheric relays.

Mr Szabo please my poor heart can only take so much elation

You are going to love LoRAWan. It’s the open network version of GoTenna. Oh, and is has encryption by default

-
The
@btcven mesh project also uses LoRaWan. A significant difference is that LoRaWan uses a star topology vs goTenna's p2p/adhoc topology. In an adhoc mesh nodes relay and route for each other. It's more difficult, but more flexible. There's room for different approaches though. -
I appreciate what GoTenna is trying to do, it's just a shame is doesn't interop with other devices and software. That's a shame because I think GoTenna has some of the best tech in the space. That's mostly why I lost my interest in the product.
-
It is possible to interoperate between the goTenna network and other wireless networks via gateways. The Python SDK makes that pretty easy with python running on low end hw.https://github.com/gotenna/PublicSDK/tree/master/python-public-sdk …
-
Well, I mean without a gateway. Point-to-point :)

is bandwidth very small in these radio transmissions? or, could they be similar to fixed broadband eventually if/when implemented commercially? [thinking of the 300kb block size, projected data transmission volumes and how to adjust bitcoin to fit this medium]
-
HF will likely be practical only for smaller messages, roughly speaking SPV, Neutrino, and Lightning messages.
