I think you don't understand the huge moral and practical differences between a prison wall or Berlin wall to keep people in and the walls and door on a house or a gated community or a political border to protect the rights of those inside from unknown people on the outside.

O I have no problem with a wall around a house or a country. It won’t affect overdose deaths, or immigration which most economists liberal and conservative favor on the whole. I think it’s a waste of money. It’s not immoral, just dumb. And requires eminent domain. Cool with you?

The border security experts generally say it is very beneficial, as do statistics, and most economists have very narrow view of the world that generally neglects security, crime, etc. which their models generally assume away.
