The concept of szabo law breaking law 2 in a bad way doesn’t hold up to me as much either, Bitcoin succeeds as an unlicensed MSB *directly because* of Szabo’s law. Not in spite of it. Id argue it’s one of the main reasons bitcoin didn’t get killed early on

I would relax the premise of only updating for maintenance, but also adding things like scalability improvements into the definition of maintenance.

If you want governance, hire a retired JAMS judge as arbitrator of your smart contract. If you force it on the entire network, I think you’ve just invented a internet mob ruled government (which can steal your funds, censor transactions, revert transactions, etc)
