I understand the criticism of that marketing line - I would be really curious what you 2-3 word description of (the ideal) Ethereum would be? Also to be fair, Bitcoin marketing (e.g the alpaca sock explainer video) also had longterm absurd statements like „0 tx fees“.

I hope so too! But I don't think critiquing marketing instead of substance gets us closer to anything.
Web3 isn’t Ethereum. The vision has been that Ethereum is just one part of the Web3 stack. For example there needs to be some form of storage and that’s likely something like IPFS or Swarm. The idea you store photos on Ethereum is silly.
Interestingly, most Ethereum supporters would agree with you that those descriptions aren't great. I think "global shared asset ledger" is a much better description of what it is, and what it will likely be most useful for moving forward.
Our focus is on valuation, technical and economic performance. ETH has been falling in satoshis for a long long time. going on 18 months of losing its value in sats. Some less absurd marketing would definitely help them
Hyper quadratic sharding mumbo jumpo is the only thing keeping them above the water. Can't stop it now.
