.@NickSzabo4 I've just read your "Jurisdiction as Property" paper, and I have a question: could franchise courts hold overlapping jurisdictions and thus compete to judge the same crimes on the same land? If so, would the court be chosen by the plaintiff, defendant, or both?

Thx! Would those distinct laws be made by the court, or would there be some kind of a local legislative power (eg at manor or county level)? And would these local court only judge in cases falling under these local laws, or would they also apply national laws, acting as "agents"?
