first priority is never let china and india emit at the percapita rate US and Canada are and and drastically reduce western rates
Political fantasies. Even tiny households fight over a thermostat. You can't get India & China to make credible commitments (not mere treaties) to this. France is already burning & wider oppression will lead to planetary civil war emitting vastly more CO2 than the current peace.

Without impossibly credible commitments from India & China, forcing major carbon taxes on the West reduces long-term CO2 emissions by negligible amounts, may actually end up increasing long-term CO2 emissions because of the economic & political pain & violence it will cause.
