Unless you use something like localbitcoin, or just earn crypto directly it is necessary to have someone like @coinbase
There are tons of alternatives. Their current obscurity vs. the massively hyped custodian-exchanges is a bad reason to perpetuate this weakness in future uses and applications, and it is certainly no excuse for lying to users by calling something centralized "decentralized."
