Exactly. Trust minimization at the infrastructure level allows for trust maximization for a local outcome. If you don’t even have to trust the system, you can trust your transacation on it.

I’m glad you mention inability to agree on this target temperature setting. I have often argued to people that action on climate implies a goal, a thermostat setting, and asked what should it be? And I’m yet to hear an answer.

Would bet all the money I have that if any serious govt effort is made to curb CO2 production or cool the earth it will cause 10x the climate disruption than anything that would have happened if everyone was allowed to just keep doing whatever they were going to do.
