I respect the hell out of you, but strongly disagree on this point. It's not fair to draw a line from a guy being a "donjuan" to an abuser. His comments to Congress were false & misleading. He's worthy of mockery for his lifestyle. But I can't get behind comparing to Weinstein.
They are also related, as Elaine stated above, by high time preference. The guy believes in spending over saving and in using women for his short-term pleasure over developing long-term relationships and family.

btw, Harvey Weinstein's most salient feature isn't that he (allegedly) assaults women; it's that he long positioned himself as a feminist and champion of women & minorities while acting like a loathsome cad in private. in that respect, Nouriel is exactly the same.

I agree that they're similar in hypocrisy. My objection stems from what the "Weinstein" name conjures up viscerally in most people's minds.

That's a completely fair criticism of Roubini and I believe all three of us are in total agreement on that point. It's only framing him as an abuser that makes me queasy.

Sexual lifestyles that often involve a lust for new partners, and legitimizing means of satisfying that lust, lead to the kinds of things Weinstein did with his female professional dependents. But it may be too complicated an observation to make well in a tweet.
