Trump's a wannabe tin-pot dictator, as ugly a caudillo as a Chavez or a Duarte. Like them, he has no ideology. He's pure self. Discussion of SV being left or right is irrelevant in this context. That liberatarians like @prestonjbyrne + @NickSzabo4 can back such a man is nutso https://twitter.com/prestonjbyrne/status/1033099418633953281 …

I understand Republicans of Lincoln and Reagan perfectly well. And I have many libertarian friends with whom I agree on many things (even you, sometimes, Preston.) But, yes, I’m struggling to understand the Republicans & Libertarians who support this current president.

I don't understand Rs & Ls who defend a guy who’s anti free trade, hyper-nationalist, anti-immigration, wants to increase internet surveillance and remove constitutional checks on executive power. Call me stupid, but that just doesn't add up to me.

1/2 I'm no media-establishment guy and as an Australian, like Mike, I didn't grow up attached to either party. Nor can I vote, so I ain't lost in the 'my team' loyalty to any politician. And as an outsider to all that, it is so strange watching ppl in our space stan for Trump

One can be very in favor of traditional Republican values, chiefly limited government, and also think Trump is venal and corrupt and believe many of the accusations against him have merit.
