I am curious what people like @NickSzabo4 think of this analysis. It seems compelling and rational to me, but I need some clarity from the side being discussed herehttps://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2018/08/what-trumps-supporters-think-of-corruption/568147/ …

Literally have been trying to find them. A bit more difficult in the Bay Area, most seem closeted here due to the climate
-
That's true in the Bay Area being even a tenth as outspoken about your Trump support as leftists are about their politics here can lose you your job.
-
That's another big reason leftists are so ignorant about Trump's supporters: rational people refuse to talk to people who threaten their online accounts, jobs, etc. over speech. So quite naturally they are not going to talk to you if they think you are a typical leftist.
-
I absolutely concur with this. I really do want to understand because I hate not understanding things and i am really having a hard time on this one.... And I consider myself pretty good and being willing to hear other views.

@NickSzabo4 If I did that as a Muslim / Arab maybe they’d stop being Trump supporters. It’s they who are isolated. Who is going to make excuses for Trump’s xenophobia and racism? -
no excuse needed. we got over it. bounce.
-
Are you saying his racism and xenophobia is something ppl should just get over? The above is how I understood what you said. Or are you saying something else.
-
no i'm saying his supporters got over it but it's also mainly imagined eg: you think he goes out there in front of a country of 350 odd million and intends to say overtly racist things? or might you consider "build the wall" is a vocal meme? he talks like a New Yorker

-
I think the unintentional nature of it is why people perceive racism. I don't believe he knows what he is about to says a significant portion of the time. .. and I don't think he does anything to reject systems that oppress or villify other races.
-
OBSESSED with race = obnoxious. poverty is an issue and it transcends race. but I would ask first define "other races" (already sounds racist) then list the systems that oppress and vilify them then list solutions that are just. then compare to the anywhere else world
-
Other races (couldve used cultures) refers to Latinos, blacks, Africans, Middle Eastern Folk, etc. The "Muslim" ban seemed like a systemic form of focusing on particular region and type of people. The tendency to hire white people disproportionately in positions of power
-
there were plenty of Muslim majority nations not on that list. the SCOTUS agreed with the ban. as far as power positions in companies: getting people from lower economic classes into positions of power takes time. most of the time parents sacrifice for their kids for this.
