Regarding the method of finalization, I largely agree. But in regards to Forks, Upgrades, Paid Devs, Public Mining, and even possibly dispute resolution, I disagree. But the market place will decide.

Simplify to mathematics based rules and let it do what thou wilt. Subjective opinions on governance is a never ending debate destined to walk in an infinite circle. Micro payments however is more of an engineering problem and is important to the world’s bottom third poor IMO.

Isn’t the point here really that layering governance on cryptocurrencies is self-defeating because blockchain architecture trades-off so much with the sole objective of avoiding the need for it? I think the jury is still out on efficacy of governance more broadly.

Tend to agree that the fetish for on-chain governance undermines the point of blockchains. Why have all those guarantees about consensus and censorship resistance if you are going to make a majority of token holders dictators with power to arbitrarily alter state.

However with respect to governance of the development processes, coordination of forks ect we shouldn't mistake an opaque political governance process that happens to have a norm of no changes for lack of human governance and politics
