For users, yes. The devs have to indeed be something closer to a community with shared values, one of them being never upgrade the software for reasons other than technologically important ones (e.g. accounting, legal, or political decisions where the experts are not the devs).

I'm really curious why you would say that, or how I may have misunderstood that phrase. Isn't it generally a good idea to follow the maintainer's upgrades, at least for security & performance (provided there is no evidence that they tend to screw up your data in the process)?pic.twitter.com/o5i84IPIEb

The way the words are used here suggests that no software upgrades should ever happen except in extreme cases, mandated by knowledgeable people. That's backwards.

Yeah. As still a relative newcomer to crypto, too much to learn, I’m amazed that so many projects are trying to redo governance systems that humans have been fucking up for centuries. I don’t get the point.

It's because, like in everything tech, there's a religious-level belief in the perfectibility of systems and removing human judgement and no humanities people involved.
