Giant companies are the security holes of capitalism. The more centralized industries get, the more they attract socialist political activists. The Bolshevik Revolution was a violent version of this vs. railroad stations, newspapers, etc. Now activism is focused on tech giants.
To a large extent yes, but there are also non-regulatory-capture economies of scale, e.g. network effects.

I would argue, that those factors are in almost all cases dominant and regulary capture is used to increase their market share and power. One exception is the armaments industry as the only customer are the governments.
