Hyper-polarization in combination with a financial crash can lead to a major war. One important mission for the cryptocurrency community can be to 1) limit the negative impact of such a war 2) establish the infrastructure for the post-war system. Thanks for indulging my paranoia.
Unfortunately I don't think you are that paranoid. It's just hard for us to imagine these events since we are blessed to never experience it. Crypto can play quite a role in this, I agree.
In my childhood I first experienced hyperinflation, followed by the rise of hyperpolarization, followed by a bloody civil war. And things are developing in that direction again but at much larger scale.

Correct. To keep the socialist country afloat, the government was borrowing more and more money, but eventually it became harder to borrow. Austerity came in. Unhappiness led to aggressive forces within the society to come to the forefront in some places. The rest is history.
