So community is primitive but taking everything can get your hands on without regard for your need is . . . not primitive? Organizing society around immutable individual avarice is galaxy-brain-level sophistication? Just trying to meet you on your own terms here.
Advanced institutions and mores are socially scalable (roughly speaking, they still work with strangers who don't like you), primitive ones are not, even if they sound good or you make the advanced ones sound bad.
Socialism endeavors to run contemporary large-scale societies without extracting every ounce of wellbeing from the majority of adherents. It is advanced (though nascent and ill-applied). You're trying to make it "sound bad" by conflating its compassion with something unrelated.
