This was in 2003, and an early sample screen showed the concept of a market on an assassination of Arafat. Not on Hussein or anyone else. The project was then killed, and so had no markets on anything.

Have you read The Age of Em by Robin Hanson? It would seem that cryptocurrency would be ideal for an Em society. For example at x1000 human thinking speeds an Em would experience a subjective 3 days for a 2min block confirmation time

Haha true. Maybe Lightning networks and atomic swaps between blockchains is fast enough? I would expect Ems to be fast at their jobs but also demonstrate considerable patience.
