There's a testnet satoshis place in addition to the mainnet one. Even though that version costs nothing & has the same exact features, plus there are more testnet wallet clients, the mainnet version is getting 40x the number of payments per day. Done right, micropayments do work.

Nick, what do you think of "micropayments" that are metered out automatically by software based on usage? Seems it could be transformative but also cognitively scaleable, as there is a precedent- I make a "micropayment" everytime I turn on a lightswitch or run the faucet

Works only for fungible goods and below normal granularity levels doesn't serve the purpose of conserving resources (costs more in brain time to worry about it).

Makes sense. Are you bullish on decentralized “markets” for fungible goods like storage and compute, or do these fall below that threshold?

I feel like I'd be particularly hurt by mental transaction costs. That constant nagging awareness in the back of my mind of even 1/1000th of a cent per click/second would weigh much more heavily on me than a bundled monthly package, even at several times higher cost overall.
