Guys.. it's a different model. I'm not even going to argue the merits.. point is he signed up for it and is being payed more than enough to pay (well) several people to take turns to cover. Having 24/7 tech support is not unheard of in business
$10K/day is extremely far from enough when the legal risks of potentially multi-billion-dollar decisions contacting potentially thousands of jurisdictions as well as the (also greatly underestimated) human on-call time are included.
