Perhaps, the initial obstacle may be a lack of recognition of the underlying unforgeably costly substance in the case of public blockchains. Pseudo-blockchains w/ their deceiving messaging of PoW's "lack of finality" and "probabilistic finality" may be slowing said recognition.

However, I do agree that convincing outsiders of the integrity of software and procedures is still a work in progress. Perhaps, just being patient and proving immutability and unforgeable costliness in the long term will be the solution!

Mr Szabo I know you are agains Segwit2x but how do you propose we move forward with the Bitcoin scaling problem which needs to be solved fast as users are growing. We need segwit to fix transaction malleability in order to make LN more secure right? Or do you have something else?
