I’m gradually getting more of my fonts out in the world for general licensing. Many thanks to everyone who expressed interest in Margo over the past year, and to who make it fun to release fonts without the dread of having to make everything 100% perfect right away.

The folks at are starting a new quarterly journal called Design Brief, with each issue focusing on a single design topic. If it’s anything like their other publications from , as I suspect it will be, it’s bound to be wonderful.

The vector drafting in Kryptos Copperplate is … rough. But it’s still a cool project with an interesting backstory. More info here: (Once again, thank you .)

Ok, this has to be a first(?) … The using a web font for inline text-based illustrations in a single article. The interactive web-font-based block illustrations are cool too.

I forget when I first noticed it, but I’ve been enjoying the app using the extra-condensed variant of their Cheltenham typeface more for Opinion heds recently. I’d love to see more people using condensed headline type for small-screen typography.

I just hit the launch button for the new 2020 site: It’s been really fun working with the fonts from @SNugue/CNAPfr and Thomas Huot-Marchand ()/. I’m looking forward to doing more. Colors! shapes! French fonts! 🎨🔺🇫🇷🎉👍

… To be fair though, I guess most of typography is “some nerd stuff”. 🤓

I appreciate telling it like it is in his recent post on typographic scales.

… This has become a pet peeve after seeing “men and women” used so often in articles that have nothing to do with gender. People seem to use it when they want to add some sort of gravitas (e.g. “the men and women of the civil service”), but it just comes off as phony and dated.

Instead of using “men and women” as a collective noun, just say “people”. It’s shorter, more inclusive, and probably more accurate for whatever point you’re trying to make. Even if “people” isn’t the ideal word, there’s almost surely a better term to use than “men and women”.
