    Fully agree - the best we can expect sans growth would be for the productivity vs wage graphs to be equal (like pre-1970), which seems roughly double our current standard of living - would be amazing, but not enough for Star Trek.

    2/ The seemingly secular trend of a productivity/wage split in the mid 70's is likely due to decline of unions, which to me is more a story of competition / globalization and less deliberate initial dismantling, but IANA economist!
