There's a lot of other 4th Circuit/SCOTUS case law that upholds and reinforces the public's right to court proceedings. Despite that, WBTV is having to spend time and $$$ hiring lawyers to, once again, fight for the public's access to records we have a right to see! #OpenGov /end

It looks like 2023 will be the year of battling for court access! The federal judge presiding over a case on whether police & school admin properly responded to a student's reported rape is keeping trial exhibits secret. Today lawyers for WBTV challenged that 1/ #ncpol #opengov
