Hey I have an earth-shattering idea, how about we pass a proper, carefully thought-out immigration reform bill so hard working immigrants, who very often do the jobs we won't, can pay taxes and participate in society legally??

Meh. That sounds like work. Republicans only like work when someone else is doing it.
-
Maybe they could hire some immigrants.
-
Brilliant!

I heard the name Zoe Baird the other day in relation to her employment of undocumented labor and how it immediately derailed her consideration as Attorney General.
#thosewerethedays -
That was somewhat different. She got in trouble for not only hiring an undocumented worker who worked as her nanny, but she didn’t pay taxes on her. Lots of ppl back then weren’t paying taxes and/or didn’t know they should have. It was more about the taxes.
-
So how is the Trump Organization paying taxes for undocumented workers? They don't have social security numbers, do they? Yeah, it's not different at all.
#StillTheSame -
If they have fake papers and SS numbers, then FICA taxes are withheld from their checks and are never claimed on tax returns. Plus everyone pays sales tax. Here is an interesting articlehttps://www.google.com/amp/s/www.vox.com/platform/amp/2018/4/13/17229018/undocumented-immigrants-pay-taxes …

Kept her off the Secret Service screening list?? Think about that for a minute.
-
It doesn't sound like they're very worried about all illegal immigrants being terrorists after all, does it?
-
Imagine if there was even a hint of a democratic president keeping someone off the list. The entire Right would be losing their gd minds.

The correct term would be *undocumented.

-
The workers are undocumented. The hiring of undocumented workers is illegal. They are being employed illegally. So, you’re both right.
-
It’s simple to research whether a new employee is documented or not: It’s called e-Verify. But Trump’s wall tantrum has shut it down. E-Verify is required for workers doing government-funded work. So, isn’t lack of doing so on Trump properties illegal? Add that to list.
-
Not all states require e-verify for the private sector. They all should. Add that to the immigration reform package. Here’s a list of states that require it.https://www.lawlogix.com/e-verify-map/

How does the Secret Service feel about being deceived by Trump Org. management?
@SecretService How can our country promise safety to visiting heads of state, elected leaders of our nation and the US national security apparatus when the Trump family only cares about themselves? - 1 more reply

I was in the golf business for a long time. Every manager in the industry knows they have undocumented employees. Every single one.
-
Same with ranches out west where I live ... ( most ranchers vote Republican )
-
Same with restaurants and nearly every labor-based industry
-
Indeed ... and harder work with an even harder work ethic ....
