This is Black Draw, a stream channel that crosses into Mexico east of Douglas that swells during monsoons. Not bollard-friendly.

Construction crews have been leaving gaps in new sections of the border wall at places where there is a creek bed or dry wash. They don’t appear to have panels with storm gates ready on site.

  3. 30. sij

Here’s buildup of debris at the base of storm gates near Lukeville, AZ. This is from recent rains, not the powerful monsoon storms that force the Border Patrol to leave the gates open for months at a time

This is the Santa Cruz river, which starts in Arizona (left), flows into Mexico, then loops back and returns to the US (lower right)

This is the spot at the border where the San Pedro river flows north from Mexico into Arizona. Yes, looks like a gentle stream, but note the debris pile lodged in the tree on the right. This river crested at 14 feet last fall. You can’t put a bollard fence in the path of that.

Filmed these Quitobaquito pupfish during a visit there earlier this month. It’s the only place in the U.S. where this endangered species lives— a desert oasis 150 feet from the border

I believe that part of the wall was done by Santiago Calatrava.

Here’s the new structure. Say what you will, but I wouldn’t shrug it off.

Here’s vehicle barrier in a remote part of Arizona. It stops vehicles and not much else. But it’s relatively low impact, and inexpensive.

Gas station near the Mexico border in Why, AZ, where the guns are only slightly smaller than the cars

Drove 1,300 miles over the past six days with through the Arizona-New Mexico borderlands and some of the most spectacular landscapes in North America. We got a good, long look at a certain federal infrastructure project. More soon.

  14. "We Build the Wall" appears to be forging ahead with construction along the Rio Grande in south Texas despite a federal judge's restraining order directing the group to stop -- great work from The Monitor

  16. Inbox: CBP officers in Arizona busted smuggler attempting to hide $25k worth of fentanyl in a bag of Doritos and a cup of juicy carne (though that looks like carnitas to me)

  17. Here’s another one sent by friend who says this was filmed in Mexicali. Date unknown. Unclear if they sawed bollards or it had already been cut. Appears to be older fence.

  18. Venezuela has the world’s best performing stock market is not a graphic I expected to see on Fox Business

  19. The software prompt literally asked: "Are you sure you want to delete this family unit"?

  20. To be clear: the barriers the Trump administration is putting up at the border are NEW and significantly taller and formidable BUT they have been almost entirely "replacement wall." Why do we call it that? Because that's CBP's own term
