And what gets me is that the family he was with last knew he had problems but let him keep the guns anyways. Really..

the family stated they only knew he was sad over recent loss of his mother but let’s just assume that is all they knew....no way would I then let an 18/19 year old have access to a AK-15 for fear he would hurt himself...

They took him to see a shrink and they let him keep 7 guns of his own plus the family had 3 more. This kid had more problems than his mother dying if you look at his history.
