I had nonwhite coaches/mentors as early as 8-years-old and through high school, but, my 1st nonwhite educator was my sophomore year of college: Professor Woolford.

It is so important that nonwhite children have teachers that look like them, and it is equally as important that white children have teachers who do not look like them.

Kindergarten, gym teacher. Had him kg, 3rd-5th grade and his son was my brothers age. I don't remember his name though. Ambiguous ethnicity as well, but not white. I'd like to add that he's the only non-white teacher I had before college.

8th grade, my Spanish 1 teacher was half Japanese and half something else not white?? I forget though. It’s something you wouldn’t expect given she grew up speaking Spanish
