High are part of the Alliance since the foundation of the Alliance.
Its true, altough the situations where they helped the alliance on battlegrounds were very rare. Tecnically they were around the alliance at least since watcraft 2. So we speculate that in bfa they will join the alliance as allied race :) lore wise a logical step

Is it possible for them to join the Alliance game-wise though? I feel like Blizzard has that chance but then we got Void Elves -_- which I love the VEs but they kinda pulled them out of a hat, when we had lore already established for High Elves. Am I making any sense?

I guess because of alleria and to prebuild for the next wow xpac (which will be about the void) it was the perfect moment to introduce something like the void elves. High elves can be introduced anytime. I guess not in the near future to avoid too many elves at once^^
