Probably to make the MDI and Mythic + more "exciting" and "viewer friendly" by making the strategy not just walking in and aoe everything in one pull. it's 100% because of esports imo.

Pretty much to get rid of "pull it all and AOE it with cooldowns because we don't want to pay attention to mechanics, and its shorter to let cooldowns reset than do each pack individually, or pay attention to mobs patrolling" antics to avoid challenges in M+
