Exactly... saying Wrathion is at fault is weird, because we haven't seen him since Pandaria. I really didn't get that part... but I guess I had to read some novel or comic or have been at Blizzcon where some Dev told his Tumblr headcanon...

I had to search around because it pissed me off not to know that, I did not expect to have missed something so important in the lore. Turns out in some book it was revealed that it was Wrathtion that allowed Garrosh to go back in time (WoD) -> Guldan came to us -> King dead

Garrosh's release, orchestrated by Wrathion was played out in game. And those actions eventually led to WoD's Guldan kicking off Legion where Varrian died by his hand. It's a little acrobatic logic but it does fit.
