Boycotting only hurts the lower people of the business level. Not to mention anything going on in HK won't be noticed or effected. Unfortunately US government is stupid so not much will be done Boycotting...pointless yelling into the void.
At least the actual debate shows that people think more about values and consequences of their actions on a global scale :)

But at the end of the day can you live with your self for supporting a company that bend the knee for some money. I try to make choices based on ethics. Can’t alway do it but I try the best I can. All based on personal preference

The vast majority of the people jumping on this bandwagon have probably never even heard of the banned player. Nor do they actually give a damn what is happening over in Hong Kong. Then there is the overt racism popping out of the woodwork. So much for wiser people in 21st C.
