It may be true that elements in the game "dictate" the way we behave with each other, but I really believe that there are more important factors, especially people's true character, morals and will to participate in online interactions.
If people really wanted, they could be kind and build communities with true friends in current WoW too, seems like a lot of people are asking for it. I don't believe that it is impossible just because it is current wow.
