I'd argue that allied races are fine restriction wise, most people view them as a standard fullscale race but blizzard really want to promote them as a unique reward for doing content and grinding. Do the story, do the grind, get the reward. That's an MMO experience

A compromise can certainly be reached. I do like the idea behind allied races and how they're unlocked. Gaining their trust and all before they join your faction and become playable. But it just gets worse going forward, imagine starting the game and wanting to play a glowgoat

And having to do content that isn't even current anymore. Having to unlock Mag'har/DI and Zandalari/KT is fine imo but I do think that they should just unlock the other one too. So someone who only plays alliance but wants to play a mag'har can do so if they unlocked DI

The solution is simple. You should be able to buy an 'unlock' in the in game store. It would be fast, simple, and a real bargain at $49.95, plus appropriate state and local taxes. ... What? ME! You think I'm an Activision marketing department executive? How (cough, cough) silly.

They aren't that bad, and their purpose is to be a reward or goal to reach if one really wants that race for a toon. Handing them out without any work required would stop them from being Allied Races and defeat their purpose. They are practically nust cosmetic unlocks.

I gotta say I understand the problematic for casual/new/faction rerolling players though. Having to level a new char to max level, in order to grind rep, in order to be ABLE to create the character you want to play is a serious issue.

The level of elitism is asinine. One of the key features that would entice new customers/players is locked behind an arbitrary obstacle that only forces the new player to invest x amount of hours to mask the lack of content.

A friend of mine that I wanted to introduce WoW to wanted to play as a void elf but then immediately dropped the game because of the prerequisites. This is really fucking stupid on
@Warcraft 's fault

Funny how they was suppose to be playable from launch and yet time gates and restricted to keep people playing for that money. Imo scams to get money and just more lies. 0 trust in blizzard.
