I think its because alot of the things that worked in classic had a reward system tied to it that made the player enjoy the extra time and effort it took to get. Retail has very little of the original wow's leveling reward systems in place so the slower pace simply doesnt work.
That comes with the system of expansions and the possibility for new people or returning people to catch up -> counts for level of your char and their item level. Whatever blizz adds to leveling, if it will be reseted or easier in the future -> feels meaningless. unfortunately

Perhaps. But i believe a meaningful experience can be developed where you can give power and a sense of achievement from leveling. Even if its every other level, at least having some sense of "yes i got stronger" or "yes im one step closer to building out my talent tree" cont.

Our hard work for new levels and items is just a hamster wheel until the next power inflation (Content Patch/Expansion) comes out. The problem is that after 15 years of WoW we are very aware of this hamster wheel... why keep running?...pic.twitter.com/BJu2JHh7Ol

That is the uniquenes of mmos.Y keep playing them at all when everything will be meaningless when next expansion comes out. But within the content cycle, u must present engaging and properly rewarded systems. When i say properly rewards. That doesnt mean shower every1 with purples

That the old wow used to create, which lasted until the redesign of the talent system and removal of spell ranks. So it can definitely be done. Blizzard just has to aim for fun engagement instead of making the whole game pointless until you hit max level

I think that they have tried, but most people just don't catch on it xD Endgame is where the party is at, most people just rush to get to that party. A lot of people say "I hate leveling", even if there is some progression (garrison, artifactweapon) or storyline to it (since BC)
