Especially because people are so toxic and salty when they open their mouth nowadays, so instead of find out if they are (pugs) I feel like I want to just play the content.
And do we feel lonely? Feeling bad for the players that do, but I personally do not. I feel more like "too exposed to people", e.g. having chat, voice and social media channels in and outside the game where you socialize with people you already know. It is already too much...
... so when pugs form, I really dont feel the need to chat with them. Why is it like this nowadays? Simply because it is possible: we have discord/ts/twitch/twitter/facebook/reddit/forums and more monitors to check that stuff even when we are playing :D
I think that this breaks the immersion feeling and interaction principle of MMOs in most cases. MMOs are on a downwards trend because of this "gaming meta", how we consume it (also true for wow, besides its many faults in recent Expansions)
