Do you think New World would have as many players and people interested in it if the armour sets were bland and bad? Imagine if you couldn't earn cool armour and instead it was in the store. You wouldn't have anywhere near as much interest in the game itself.
If it gets out of proportion i agree with you. But I don't see that in WoW with mounts TBH. This 25 bucks flying Pig (for china) is no esthetical concurrence to ingame earned mounts like Myth Raid or Gladiator Mounts. The flying fox was cool, but nothing "so much better".
