I'll honestly take a couple dailies a day for a month to earn a tangible result over the literally endless grind for numeric superiority we have with Azerite. The grind is worse in every objective metric now, AND we pay for mounts.

Are we talking about 'the grind' as a whole? Because I definitely think Classic's was more brutal, even if it theoretically had an finite end.

I'm talking about optional grinds present in both metas. Right now you can infinitely grind along an exponential growth curve where you spend most of the time at the plateau and back then you could grind a finite amount of time and get a tangible reward. I prefer the former.

You are mixing things up :D There was no "expansion-item" to progressively improve during the whole expansion back in Classic. Mounts are a different manner. BFA mounts to grind include any Faction mounts and those dropping from certain mobs. IngameStore is other type of source.

A lot of the effort involved in vanilla wasn't worth the reward. I liked the Winterspring mount when I got it but I'm not too sure the effort and reward were linked.

Never found it took much effort to get. And I loathe dailies. Timbermaw were the real bitch.

Wasn't it was something like 740+ quests to get it before they changed it? That's a lot of meat.

Yep! My bosses got theirs doing a couple quests a day for a month or two. Which happens to be the same sort of grind we do now for the rep needed for our pretty recolored horsies. And is a grind I MUCH prefer to endless AP.

Well, if they were only doing three quests a day (one of each), it would have taken them over eight months to get the wintersaber. You'd have to do 12 or so quests a day to get it in a couple of months. And then you had to BUY the mount for 100g, which was quite a lot.

I will argue that rep grinding is less painful now than in classic^^ if you had your dailies back then, you have world quests now. Basically they are the same, you just can pick out of a pool of possible quests + 1500 bonus rep periodically now.
