You can find this exact same toxicity in literally every fandom. Stop claiming "the gaming community" is the problem. People are. You can find far worse far more often in the sports community, yet we never see "the football fans are so misogynistic and violent!" in journalism.
Although that is true, online gaming allows weak people to act super toxic and big-mouthed witgout consequences for them. Fkng 13 year olds and losers have too much power on the internet...
If by "online gaming" you meant literally every single thing on the internet, than your statement would be accurate. Theres not a place on the internet where you wont find some children given too much power and anonymity.
I meant specially the communities around online games. It is a logical thing that trolls are everywhere, but tied with gaming there are just more isolated/frustated ppl in competitive sorroundings. I never read after a game "gg, you are really good, no wonder i lost to you :)"
Literally any competition creates this. It has nothing to do with "gaming" as a culture. From sports to video games to business to debates, they all have assholes in them. You should never stereotype a group based soley on the vocal minority or the lack of disproving events.
The anonymity people have on the internet is a big factor though. If someone beats me in a boxing match i wont be say him i fucked his mother in the face. But how often does that happen after a LoL match?
It is not "gaming", it is "online multiplayer gaming".
And of course i dont mean all people in that community, i am part of it. But on average... i would agree that people here act more toxic than in other communities...
