I’m from Europe and I don’t get paid anywhere near that amount. And there are millions of others like me.
It's not about the amount of money per hour. It is about the fact that in europe you dont have to depend on tip as part of your job. A lot of jobs in europe allow tips, but is not like in the USA, where you HAVE to pay 10-20% more as tip. That's the main message.

Exactly! I'm French and tipping is really seen as a small bonus for, say, the waiter who attented you, generally 1 or 2€. I have to admit I'm a bit weirded out by this American "obligatory tip" thing? Like if it's obligatory, why not just add it to the product's full price?
