Final episode of the Yoga 900 saga: Lenovo gave me credits to buy a new computer. The 900's power supply and/or battery (only piece they declined to change) died just a few hours before the new computer showed up. Took apart the 900 to extract its SATA SSD and backup data.

Lenovo would provide no help with getting data off the dead laptop. Said go to Best Buy. Also return the old broken computer ASAP, late already. Best Buy said $200 + 10 days to get the data; had no USB adapter for sale. I just plugged the SSD in my NUC while booting from USB.

The new Lenovo X1Y2 is much better (also more expensive) than the Y900 — except for reduced battery life. Ah, to be able to put a laptop to sleep again! And — not to have to deal with the Lenovo customer service anymore. I hope.

PS: the leather sleeve is nice and doubles as lap protector. However, it was obviously designed for the Yoga 900 and not for the X1Y2: you can plug charger and USB of Y900 while in sleeve, but no port is accessible for the X1Y2.
