Is there a book I can read about the ways Lisp communities pulled themselves apart to avoid success in the 90s / 2000s?

Unhappily, there are still irreducible barriers to entries (e.g. symbol case issues; the minority "systems" paradigm). And once you pay the price, you're in an ecosystem that is largely incapable of fixing issues with the standard or below it, due to misaligned incentives.
