The problem isn't that the cake pattern is useless. It is its usefulness that makes it so hard to remove once you realize the downsides.

The cake pattern works great in a dynamically typed prototype language. If you experience issues, your type system might not be up to snuff.

Yeah everything works in JavaScript. That's also a problem.

Thinks don't quite *work* in JavaScript. That's a problem. But there are better prototype object systems than JavaScript's.
